Did you ever work with someone who was so smart and good at what they do that you sometimes became tongue tied? That was Maija for me. Maija and I worked in Advertising together many years ago. I knew immediately she was a rising star and I wasn’t wrong. So when she messaged me on Facebook that she loved my photos and wanted me to take photos of her family (and also referred me to her other friends!), I was so flattered. And she doesn’t live close by. She hikes out here to see me every year! I believe the first photos I took of her was of her mother, mother in law, and daughter for Mother’s Day minis.

I have also taken photos of everyone at her agency now. How fun was it to “work” downtown at an ad agency again and also meet up with people I had worked with before.

When I started my photography business 10 years ago I never would have thought it would reconnect me with the co-workers I left behind when I became a stay at home mom. This has been such a great gift to me, because as you know when you work some place for 5 years you really build a work family relationship.

Maija, thank you for asking me to capture your family all of these years. Thank you for bringing me back to agency life if only for a few weeks. Thank you for your confidence in me as a photographer. And I am so excited to continue to watch our girls play basketball together! You are such a rock star!
